In this presentation of PNCEA's Catholic Speakers Online series, Rev. Anthony F. Krisak asks, "How can we help every Catholic at Mass to participate fully, consciously, and actively? How does this full participation deepen faith and make the community more welcoming and inviting?"
Although we believe the Eucharist is the “source and summit” of Christian life, studies indicate that only 34% of Catholics attend Sunday Mass on a weekly basis. Of those who attend, some are actively engaged in prayer and worship, while others seem passive and unresponsive.
A vibrant community at Mass appeals to faithful parishioners as well as those who are seeking a Church family. A community fully alive is more welcoming to newcomers and visitors. Fr. Krisak will describe the many ways we participate at Mass and name steps that parish leaders can take to encourage better participation among every person “in the pew,” and hence, foster a more evangelizing community. The presentation will include downloadable handouts.
Fr. Krisak brings over thirty years experience in parish, seminary, and academic settings, and his doctorate (S.T.D.) in sacramental theology is from The Catholic University of America. He has authored two books and numerous articles in worship and pastoral theology. Besides serving at PNCEA, he teaches Theology of Ministry as an Adjunct Professor at Loyola University Maryland.
